Today we're releasing the first edition of The Techie Guide to Google Website Optimizer. This guide covers just about everything you wanted to know about the technical ins and outs of Website Optimizer.
Some of the cool things you'll find in the Techie Guide include:
- A detailed explanation of the Website Optimizer experiment scripts
- How to implement segmentation in your experiments
- How to test with dynamic content
We'd also like to give a special thanks to Ophir Prusak. Ophir is one of the Top Contributors on our Help Forum, and he contributed greatly to the creation of the Techie Guide.
If you're ready to take your testing to the next level, we think you'll really like the Techie Guide. We'll be updating the Techie Guide with new tricks and tips regularly, so please tell us what you'd like to see.
There has a been a great need for this, esp for large dynamic sites. Thanks for taking the time to put this out, I look forward to pouring through it.
ReplyDeleteHi Yael,
ReplyDeleteYou might consider doing a multivariate test. This way you won't need to create an alternate page, but can instead vary just a section.
If you want to create another page within Blogger, you can take a look at this article, which has pretty clear instructions: http://www.bloggerbuster.com/2007/10/create-wordpress-style-pages-for-your.html.
Whether or not that will work for you depends on what you're trying to test.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteTechie Guide is ok but not good enough. I have implemented MVT at 4 of my websites. However, I am still unable to see the conversions on the GWO. My websites spans to Multiple domains. I have tried everything provided on the GWO help, but no luck for me.
Configuring GWO on Mulple domain is missing in the Guide too.
Thank You,
R&T Solutions
Hi R&T,
ReplyDeleteHave you tried asking on our Help Forum? google.com/support/p/forum/websiteoptimizer?
A number of people who've had trouble setting up a test across multiple domains have gotten help there.

ReplyDeleteIt's Claiborne, Julien. Like Liz, no relation. :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise that testing would be so straightforward.
ReplyDeleteI use analytics but thought proper testing would be too complicated and time consuming.
Thanks for the info
Life saving document! I've been using WSO for over a year and only stumbled upon this guide just now.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a Chinese simplified version?
ReplyDeleteHi Alex,
ReplyDeleteThe Techie Guide is English only for now.

ReplyDeleteHope you find it helpful.
ReplyDeleteWhich forum link is broken? And what message are you getting? They all work on our end.
